Portland Protests-What Officers Have Endured

These are not peaceful protests. Here is a list of what has occurred in Portland in the last 90 days against officers according to officer accounts.

  • Green, blue, red dot lasers in officers eyes 

  • Raw dead unknown animal insides thrown

  • Barricaded precinct doors with various materials

  • Multiple attempts to light material on fire after barricaded

  • Surrounded employee parking lots preventing them to leave

  • Photographers set up at parking lots to capture personal vehicle license plates in attempt to gain personal info

  • Officer hit in head by skateboard 

  • Officers sprayed with bear and pepper spray

  • Commercial grade fire works thrown at officers

  • Bleach, feces, urine filled balloons thrown at officers

  • Rocks, bricks, golf balls, metal balls thrown at officers

  • Sling shots with various dangerous material used

  • Frozen cans, bottles thrown at officers

  • Oil based paints thrown at officers to prevent being able to get off uniform or face shields 

  • Officers followed home in personal vehicles

  • Verbal threats of death, rape, arson to their home

  • Explosive mok cocktails with fire excelerant thrown at officers 

  • Public postings of where officers live, fliers given out to neighbors of officers saying slanderous things about officer 

  • Home made weapons like shields, metal rods, sticks, baseball bats, pvc pipes against officers 

  • Interfering on non protest related calls of service. Meaning they interject into reg calls of service to create a hostile scene for no reason making it less safe for the officer to do duties

  • Use of umbrellas to shield criminal behaviors, chemical agents and projectiles put out by police

  • Throwing of traffic cones at police 

  • Sticky, toxic smelling unknown substances thrown from water bottles at police

  • Stolen from small and large businesses

  • Threatened and harassed police verbally

  • Thrown hammers at police officers

  • Thrown full soda cans at police officers

  • Thrown toilet paper rolls at police officers

  • Thrown eggs at police officers

  • Thrown glass bottles at police officers

  • Thrown rocks at police officers

  • Thrown paint at police officers

  • Thrown paint bombs at police officers

  • Thrown paintballs at police officers

  • Thrown pieces of ceramic at police officers

  • Thrown balloons filled with feces at police officers

  • Thrown heavy metal screws at police officers

  • Thrown a railroad spike at police officers

  • Thrown golf balls at police officers

  • Thrown ball bearing at police officers

  • Thrown plastic eggs filled with paint at police officers

  • Thrown safety cones at police officers

  • Thrown traffic cones at police officers

  • Pepper-sprayed the officers

  • Spray painted graffiti outside and inside buildings

  • Smashed building windows

  • Smashed building doors

  • Shot security cameras with paintball guns

  • Pounded on doors

  • Tampered with control panels to buildings

  • Ignited an aerosol can and sprayed it toward the City Hall building.

  • Shined powerful lasers in officers’ eyes

  • Shattered a bus stop shelter.

  • Set a fire outside and behind the Portland Police Association building.

  • Brandished concealed weapons including an electronic control weapon, baton, dagger, and multiple knives

  • Pushed burning dumpsters toward the police

  • Lit an awning on a building on fire

  • Heavily damaged police cars

  • Broke police car windows

  • Deflated police car tires

  • Broke a Boys and Girls Club van’s window

  • Lit dumpsters on fire

  • Lit off illegal fireworks

  • Tossed restaurant benches

  • Started a fire in the middle of an intersection

  • Attempted to pull down street signs

  • Pulled down street signs

  • Brought in a water hose to cause water damage inside a building

  • Kicked, punched and restrained a driver of a truck
